The next 4 pictures are of MA1 John Washington, Renato F547 and myself (in disguise as CPT Pfannenstiel). On Sunday March 2, the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association inducted the winners of the 2008 Animal Hall of Fame. Renato won in the "professional catergory". Past winners and their stories can be seen here at the NJVMA Foundation website. I recommend tissues.

MA1 Washington gave a very moving acceptance speech. 27 MWDs (military working dogs) have been killed in the GWOT (Global War on Terrorism) the majority of these deaths have been from IEDs (improvised explosive devices). However, the Department of Defense credits MWDs with saving thousands of soldiers from various types of IEDs and other bombs. These dogs are hardworking and amazing. It was a privilege to share the stage with Renato and MA1 Washington.
Renato is looking out at the audience who gave us a standing ovation. Also deserving of an ovation is MA1 Washington's wife (who is camera shy). MA1 Washington has been deployed for the majority of 3 of the past 5 years. She also recieved a hearty round of applause.
