Well, it is coming. Walking and serious independence! Despite a continuation of the GI distress, Zach is happy as a clam.

Pride Goeth Before a Fall
Ahhh a spring Saturday. Time to go outside and play in the dirt. Andrew and I have been gearing up for such an event for several weeks. Considering it was 25 degrees earlier this week, I was starting to despair that we would ever have any warm weather. But today while maybe not "warm" was certainly pleasant for working outside if enough layers were worn.
So, we bundled the Z-man up and plopped him down in a semi protected area of the garden where we would be working. He seemed content!
Andrew and worked to build our first raised bed!
We added some peat moss, some hummus, and a whole lot of topsoil. We added water and mixed well!

And then Michele and Zach planted the seeds! We started snap peas (not quite on St. Patrick's day, but oh well) and 2 types of beets (Chiogga and Golden).

And Michele put mulch down (shredded paper) and we called it a day. Boy were we feeling darn pleased (dare I say proud?) of our efforts!
We had lunch and then put Zach down for a nap, and Andrew and I had some well deserved quiet time. Then lo and behold Zach was up after a whopping 45 minutes of sleep. SIGH. But, looking on the bright side, I suggested that we all go to Church because we would make 5 o'clock Mass. We managed to put things together and scoot out the door in time. Yeah us!
So, as y'all might know, Andrew and I consider ourselves to be pretty good practicing Catholics. If you didn't know, the one year old and the 31 week pregnant me might have given it away! However, Mass times in these parts directly conflict with Zach's two nap times. Ergo, we haven't actually BEEN to Mass since Christmas. But, after every weekend with no Church, we feel guilty about it and resolve to figure it out next week and go.
And lo and behold, there we were, at Mass, with a funny visiting Jesuit to boot! Zach was being good. The boys behind us were entertaining him and I was feeling pretty excited that we were 1) there 2) clean 3) wearing clothes that looked decent. And as we were getting on into the Liturgy of the Eucharist Zach, who had been walking on the floor between Andrew and I, came waddling over to me, looked up at me angelically, then put his head down and puked all over the pew, the floor, and my clogs. For some reason, I cupped my hands underneath him to try and CATCH the vomit. I don't think I gasped too loudly, but, I might have. Andrew then instructed me to scoop up Zach and he would take care of the pew. Can I just say how happy I am we use cloth diapers? Two of those things and the mess was gone. Zach had some more GI distress in the lobby of the Church and a kind teenager fetched me some paper towels. By the time he was done throwing up all over everything, Zach was looking pretty happy and cooed and chatted all the way home.
And now we are back home, I've taken shower #2 for the day and we are going to have a yummy dinner, and the head to bed and see what tomorrow has in store for us!

Goings on about the house
Been a quiet week so far. I am enjoying my leave immensely. It is really nice not to have to cope with Army silliness and instead cope with Zachy silliness.
Experimenting with the sippy cup. So far it is good to hold, and throw (he can pitch it about 3 feet), but we haven't grasped the idea of drinking water out of it.

Swimming!
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Hello from Annapolis!
We are having a great time on our family babymoon! We've been swimming at the hotel pool every day. We then give Zach some nekkid baby time because he loves crawling around with no clothes on! And who could resist such a cute picture??
We went to a great town park on Monday. They have wonderful trails for walking with a baby carriage. Zach had a great time.

Snow! In March!
Good grief! That is all I have to say. We have a foot of snow out there, and it is starting AGAIN. Harumph. My poor garlic must be quite chilly!
27 weeks!
27 weeks!
A quiet weekend around here.
So quiet in fact, Andrew got a nap in that he's been needing all week... Aggie joined him and Zach supervised.
We are pretty excited about the snow. From the inside only though!
