Tree is up!

It's our first Christmas in Maine, and we are very excited.  Our Christmas started out with a trip to the tree farm in town.  We were all poised to cut a lovely Maine tree.  Alas, the place didn't quite turn out as well as we had hoped.

First clue, cash only.
Second clue, no obvious plots of trees.
Third clue, "Forty bucks gets you whatever tree you want, it's 50 acres, if the right side doesn't get what you want, try the left".

Oi.

So we trooped out the muddy path with Zach in the wheel chair and Molly on Andrew's shoulders, and Ben running God only knows where.  And we looked, and we looked, and we looked some more.  And we finally found something, cut it down, walked it back to the car (yes, I can carry the top of a tree and a toddler at the same time), tied it on, and away we went.  When we got home, we got out the chainsaw and cut the tree to size and brought it in.

I've been stringing lights on all week, and started hanging ornaments tonight. Well, the tree has 24 strings of lights and one angel, plenty of beautiful ornaments, and it is the goofiest tree we've ever had.  It's got two main branches and doesn't look straight from any angle.  But, it's got plenty of room to hang the ornaments, and the kids are going to love it anyway.  And man, it is HARD to take a picture of a lit up tree!  Especially if you want kids in the picture!  But Zach was happy to climb on the ladder in his walking cast and hang ornaments.  All of them.  On the same branch!  So I came in and rearranged a little!
