Waiting waiting waiting

I'm still pregnant. But here are some pictures to amuse you till the baby gets here.

A little fuzzy but Zach has been having a great time outside with the nice weather.

Andrew working hard on the garden takes a minute for a photo. He's humoring me in my "slip, slap, slop" campaign for the family to prevent sunburn and skin cancer.

Planting time!

So, theoretically, our last danger of frost is 15 May. Out went the plants!! I've been hardening off the seedlings all week, and put several in today. 2 Golden tomato plants (I had more, but one up and died, and the other committed suicide during planting), 2 Roma tomatoes, 2 cherry tomatoes, golden beets, Chiogga beets, Purple Purvian Potatoes, and with high hopes, the ground cherries. I've never tried to grow half these things before, but I'd feel really quite proud of myself if we even got a couple of cherries. Going in this weekend are argula, lettuce, and canteloup.

Here's Zach helping with the planting. He put himself in the planter and thought it was the greatest time crawling in and out of it.

And this is my darling son, "helping" with the potato planting. His help consisted of digging up the tomatoes I manged to plant and trying to eat them. Now, I would point out that this is the same boy, that if I GAVE him potatoes to eat, he'd take two bites and throw the rest of the floor. I guess I just lack a certain eau de dirt in my cooking.

38 weeks! At my midwife today my belly is actually measuring 40cm. She and I pretty much figure the baby is coming in the next two weeks. Translation: Not soon enough!!

Planting the potatoes and trying to be in a good posture to keep the baby with his back to my belly. Just say no to posterior babes! And note the excellent practice of wearing gloves while planting. It could be argued that gardening is the most dangerous thing for me to do while pregnant due to stray cats in the neighborhood and the risk of toxoplasmosis.

Long week!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We had a ton to do last week, including my last trip EVER to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I am NOT sorry to have my back to that particular place. They were giving me the run around on my medical records and I finally had to say "Ma'am, you are stressing me out, I am having contractions, my midwife needs those records". And BOY, threaten to have a baby in someone's office and all of a sudden things that were impossible 5 minutes ago are easy as pie!

And a PSA: My laptop died, along with about 95% of the contacts that I have. So, if I haven't emailed you in the past week, and you'd like an email birth announcement, please please please, send me or Andrew an email! If you don't have my email, and want a birth announcement, post a comment at the bottom of the blog and I'll respond.

We've had an extremely productive past several days. We got a bunch more beds built. The peas are growing, I learned to make yogurt in the crock pot, the composter came, and Zach said his first real word "Aggie" and pointed at the correct cat. However, his vocab now seems to consist of "guu-girl" for Medchen, or any dog, "Aggie" for the cats, and "daa daa" for both Andrew and myself. He's also started signing "all done" fairly reliably.

Shredding grass for the new composter.

Peas on the trellis. I swear I can watch these things grow!

Andrew and Zach in Andrew's early Father's Day Present. Babywearing is going to be a lifesaver with two kids and Andrew needed his own sling!
A little shade on my face, but there's the 37 week belly. Why yes, I do feel huge! We had two neighbors come over and say I was doing to much in my condition. You can imagine how well such comments go over with me.

Zach playing with the cap that goes to the piping for the laundry line. He hits on on the poll and giggles.

Contemplating a cardinal
On his climber. He's getting more into it! Yeah!
With the new composter, he had to check it out of course!

Control Alt Beer

We did it! The beer is done and it is YUMMY! Anyone who comes by is welcome to sit on the deck and enjoy a cold one with us!

Cheers!

And of course, while we were enjoying our beer after a long day of work, Zach was being cute.

And we have sprouting! Our row of peas is the first picture. Trellis is going in tomorrow. Second is the arugula!
